It is very easy for a Canadian to be an anti-segregationist. We really can't even begin to start to understand how vast and complex is this situation in the southern United States. Nevertheless I would like to go on record as saying that integration will come just as sure as night follows day. The signs are everywhere. The segregationists are running scared. I have just returned from a 7000 mile motor trip through the deep South. In Virginia I visited a cemetery for dogs. It was, believe it or not, segregated, one section for "white" pets, another for "colored pets". Harry Golden in his book "Enjoy, Enjoy”, reported that a child's book in titled “The Rabbits Wedding” had been placed on the reserve list in Alabama because in the story the black rabbit marries the white rabbit. I checked this out and found it to be true. I hasten to explain that the author of this story for preschool kiddies had not given the marriage of black and white a second thought as it applied to humans. He had simply tried to write an engaging story for little folks. When people have to stoop this low to make their point then they just don't have a point. Hard as it is for some to swallow, the matter of integration is a problem of WHAT is right rather than WHO is right.
