I am going to tell you how to become the most popular person in your crowd. It has nothing to do with the toothpaste you use, or the soap that keeps your skin lovely to touch. It has nothing to do with the size of your home or the length of your car and it is so simple that anyone can do it. Listen, if you would be loved, learn to listen. I have a friend whose company has become unbearable simply because she will not listen. No matter who is talking to her, no matter how interesting and informative their story, this woman greets each word with cold indifference. She appears to hear but she is obviously not listening. If we are to get along with each other, we all must learn that oft Times we must listen, and listen with interest. Children drift away from parents because the parent will not listen. Marriages break up because one of the partners or the other refuses to listen, and so they grow farther and farther apart. Perhaps the person talking is not the most interesting person in the world. Always remember however that what the person is saying is very important to them. I repeat – – if you would be loved, by family, by friend, by stranger, LEARN TO LISTEN.
