In thinking about the upcoming Christmas season I think this story is worth the telling. What I am about to relate occurred in an eastern Canadian city. The annual Santa Claus parade was a much looked forward to event and most of the towns small fry had turned out. It was a good parade except for one thing. It featured not one but TWO Santas. The bewildered kiddies not knowing which was the imposter, pelted both the Santas with snowballs. How about that. Not content with putting up the Yuletide decorations on first of November, and housing a different Saint Nick in each of five stores around town, the commercial interest now includes TWO Santas in the annual parade. Who knows, this may start a trend. Imagine the possibilities. I can just see the ads now. "Hey kids be sure to attend the annual Schwartz Department Store Santa Claus parade with FIVE, COUNT ‘EM, FIVE BIG SANTAS. No other store offers you MORE Santas per parade." I am firmly convinced we are raising a generation of cynics and really, is it any wonder.
